“THE FREEMASONS”, MYSTERY, MYTH and TRUTH was produced from inside the fraternity and has a clear Masonic perspective. All professional film crew as well as all professional actors were Masons.
This is a legitimate Masonic film produced with support of the Grand Lodge of Illinois.
It is erroneous to compare this film with whatever is shown on the Discovery and/or the History Channel. Those “documentaries” are produced by people who are completely in the dark about Freemasonry and have most certainly non-Masonic agendas which ponder to the lowest common denominator of a mass audience. They are usually lurid sensationalistic exposés about “the secret society that wants to dominate the world”, or programs that try to ridicule and belittle the role of our fraternity in today’s society by showing our rituals and revealing our “secret” words and signs.
Our late Brothers John J. Robinson ("Born In Blood") and Jerry Marsengill (editor of The Philalethes Magazine) are prominently featured in this film. Their segments were filmed a couple of years before they passed. John Robinson was a great advocate of Freemasonry even before he became a Mason. He was the greatest supporter of our film (previous version of the film was titled "Unseen Journey") and promoted it on many radio programs and in interviews.
Producing this film gave me great pleasure as a professional filmmaker and enormous pride and satisfaction as a Freemason, especially when I hear that the film is actually being used for the benefit of my fraternity. We have received literally hundreds of letters from brethren all over the US and Canada telling us how much they have enjoyed the film and how it is especially helpful in attracting new members.
Lodges that were about to surrender their charters, began showing this DVD on open-lodge nights for friends and prospective members. Many new petitions resulted and many lodges have since been reinvigorated.
I encourage brethren to use this DVD to promote our Masonic legacy and attract new, worthy candidates. My great hope is that it can help revitalize the Craft.
